Salem was a blast. We ended up taking the commuter train out to Salem and did our sightseeing. We took a tour at the Witch House and Witch Dungeon. At both we learned about the Salem Witch Trials. All very interesting but horrifying too. I can't believe that people were so ignorant to just go and kill innocent people based on what the girls told them! Then, even after it was decided the girls had made it up, they didn't get punished. Unbelievable! We also had a fun tour with two guys from the Witch City Rickshaw. Us girls sat in a cart being pulled by the guys and they rode us around town, telling us the history of the city. We saw a beautiful garden, a lot of historical homes and more. When the tour was over they introduced us to Lori Cabot, who is known to be the city's oldest witch. She runs a store there. She was really nice. Then we had dinner at Captn's. Our table was outside, overlooking the harbor. Very nice. Great food too! Then we took the ferry back to Boston. It was so nice coming into Boston at night. The skyline was so pretty. When we arrived back in Boston we went on the Ghost and the Graveyard tour. Total tourist trap, but fun nonetheless. We learned some local ghost stories, heard about the Boston Strangler, toured two cemetaries, saw rats running around in Boston Common, all interesting!
The next day we divided up and me and Michele took a tour on the Freedom Trail while Michelle and Amy went shopping. On the trail we saw the same cemetaries and Boston Common, but we also saw the North Church, Cobb's Hill, Faneuil Hall, and more. After the tour we met up with my cousin Mike, who lives in Providence RI. We hung out, had dinner, and walked around by the harbor. It was a nice day.
On our last day we headed out to the Prudential Center which is a skyscraper. That was cool. Then we headed to the airport where more airline nightmares began. We were flying United Airlines coming home. When we first arrived they told us the flight was delayed because of mechanical errors. So, they put us on another flight that would still arrive on time in Philedelphia for our connecting flight. When I called home to talk to the girls Brian said he'd gotten the call earlier. When I asked why he didn't let me know, he said he figured I'd find out at the airport. Thanks Brian! We got to sit in the airport for an extra hour or so because he couldn't be decent enough to call. We could have spent a little more time sightseeing. Anyway, back to the airline. So, we finally take off an hour after schedule and arrive in Philedelphia after our connecting flight to Detroit had left. Thank goodness they put us up in a hotel and gave us food vouchers because we were totally out of money. We finally got to the hotel around midnight and asleep around one. The next day we had to catch the shuttle at 6 a.m. We were sooooo tired. The return flight home was uneventful. All in all it was a terrific trip! We had a great time. I'll post pics soon, I promise!
